But to backtrack a bit, this book has such a brilliant opening. And despite the fact that all they’ve wanted was their memories since the very beginning, they refuse when Wicked offers it to them, and instead break out of Wicked headquarters epic prison break style, flee to one of the last remaining cities, and engage in a series of goals, each of which Dashner manages to make more urgent than the last, including getting the chips in their heads removed (which can track and control them), meeting Gally, who Thomas thought was dead back in book ONE, and breaking Newt out of crazy people jail.

In the finale of the absolutely thrilling Maze Runner series, Thomas, Minho, Newt, and like SIX out of the original hundred or so Gladers find themselves in Wicked’s headquarters.

Books don’t get much more intense than this.
